Oh my god, THIS match. Vika vs Petra, Petra vs Vika.
Maybe you were expecting a different final with different faces, but let me say that this match was an eye catcher! The atmosphere was definitely worth of a final.
I'm going to be honest here, through out the entire first and third set my mind could only think of on thing: COMEBACK. Not only because i was being bias but because I wanted to see more and I knew this girls had it in them to provide us with what we were looking for. And so they did, 3 sets for the Year End Championship match.
There were times that I was drawn away from the match and I was distracted by some other thing (I know, I am human after all), but there was two ways my attention was brought back to the match. One, by Petra's screams whenever she won a point; or two, hearing the crowd going crazy whenever Vika made a huge comeback. This can only prove on thing: the intensity of the match.
Even though I had my money on Azarenka, Petra justified her win. I mean, what a year for Petra Kvitova! Wimbledon's champ, now THIS title and from tomorrow world's number TWO. What an improvement from last year when she finished ranked 34th. Yes, it seems ages ago.
She started the year hoping to work hard and improve her game... look how far she got! It is amazing that most of us have only seen her as the underdog in most tournaments and not always a major threat to contest titles. Let me tell you something, this will no longer be the case. Hold on tight WTA because Petrapower will be back and reloaded next year.
