Caro takes Toray Pan Pacific Open

 

Caro did it AGAIN!

She takes the Tokyo title defeating Elena Dementieva 1-6 6-2 6-3! This is her 11th title and her 5th title this year making her the first player since Justine Henin 2007 to win 5 titles in the same year. 

Caro:

“Elena started really strong. I didn't get enough depth on my groundstrokes, but in the beginning of the second set I pressed a little harder.”

"I started to feel the match was turning around a little bit but I still had to keep my focus in the third set and I'm just happy I won the last point."

"I really enjoy winning. I'm feeling good It's always nice to hold the trophy in your hand. That's what you're practicing for. Hopefully next week in Beijing will be as good. I'll take it one match at a time and we'll see."

  Elena:

"I feel I played very well in the first set and unfortunately I missed some opportunities in the beginning of the second set and lost a bit of momentum. She was fighting and playing solid from the baseline and I'm disappointed the way I finished the match but overall it was a good fight."

 Caro is now one step closer from becoming our new world number one!! What does she need in order to achieve this? - she needs to reach QF in Beijing. That's it. 2 more matches!! Extremely possible.

Let's see, Caro has a 0-3 loss in the first round in Beijing. But wait, she also had lost her opening matches in both of her previous appearances in Tokyo. So stats are stats. She is now rolling her way through tournaments and no one is good enough to stop her. 

When I was in Miami this year I told her that she would reach #1 this year (at that time #4). I am so happy I was not wrong =)

I don't want to get too ahead of myself but picture this: Caro already having 5 titles this year, becomes #1 in Beijing and wins then surprise us winning Doha! OMG that would be amazing. Definitely, the best player of the year. Ok ok, I won't bore you with my dreaming =)
