Jarka owns Court 9!

Jarmila Groth, our Australian tennis star, is now at the Rogers Cup in Montreal. She has gained a spot in the main draw after 3 days of qualifying rounds.

In the first round of quallies she defeated Sophie Ferguson 6-2 6-1. In the second, Abigail Spears 6-4 6-3 and in the final round she demolished Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-2 6-0.

So, what was the common factor in all of her matches besides delighting the crowd with great quality tennis?

Jarka played ALL of her matches on court 9. Lucky number huh?

She played today her first round of the main draw against Alona Bondarenko were she won 7-6 (9) 6-2. Guess what court did she play in?...... COURT 9! Coincidence? I don't think so. Tennis gods love Jarka as much as we do.

Tomorrow she faces Na Li in the second round (second match after 7 pm). This time she will not play on court 9, but I am sure that luck will follow her to Central Court!
